In just 7 months, Iran's commerce with ECO members surpassed $10 billion

Iran's trade with members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has reached approximately $10.2 billion in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-October 22).

Iran (IMNA) - This represents a 4.5 percent increase compared to the previous year. According to Ruhollah Latifi, spokesperson for the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining, and Trade, Iran has traded a total of 14,939,483 tons of goods valued at $10,189,923,013 with ECO members during this period. These trade exchanges have also witnessed an 18 percent increase in terms of weight. In terms of exports, the Islamic Republic has exported 12.345 million tons of non-oil goods worth $5.886 billion to these nations, reflecting a 2.5 percent rise in value and a 23 percent rise in weight.

The seven-month period mentioned, Iran had a trade surplus of $1.6 billion with the other party, as stated by Latifi.

During the previous Iranian calendar year 1401, the total value of trade between Iran and the ECO members reached $20.5 billion. Out of this amount, exports accounted for $13 billion, while imports from these countries amounted to $7.5 billion.

Last year, Iran primarily exported petroleum products, dairy products, foodstuff, fresh and dried fruits, juices and citrus fruits, carpets, saffron, fish, caviar, ornamental aquatic products, various stones, construction equipment, clothing, industrial equipment, bags and shoes, medicine, health supplies, as well as plastic products to ECO member states. On the other hand, the top imported goods from ECO member states included basic goods, industrial machinery, raw materials for production, medical supplies, and medicine.

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is an intergovernmental organization established in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. It serves as a platform for political and economic cooperation among its Asian member countries.
