Iran condemns Sweden's silence in response to ongoing Holy Qur'an sacrilege

Iran has expressed strong condemnation towards Sweden's lack of action in putting an end to the repeated desecration of the Holy Qur'an, which is deeply offensive to Muslims. They urge Stockholm to take tangible steps towards addressing this issue.

Iran (IMNA) - According to Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani, verbal denunciations and opposition from Swedish officials are insufficient in addressing these sacrilegious acts against the holy Muslim scripture. He laments the continuous violation of Islamic sanctities, which goes against the fundamental principles of human rights.

These remarks come after Salwan Momika, an Iraqi man based in Sweden, attempted to burn a copy of the Qur'an in the city of Malmo, under heavy protection. Momika has carried out such blasphemous acts multiple times in recent months.

Iran highlights that these acts of hatred insult and infringe upon the rights and values of over two billion Muslims, all while the Swedish police passively stand by. The responsibility of the police should be to ensure security and prevent the abuse of people's rights. These abhorrent acts will surely leave a lasting impact on the minds of freedom-seeking individuals worldwide.

During the incident in Malmo, the police arrested three individuals who were trying to stop the burning of the Qur'an. They escorted Momika away from the scene with a substantial convoy of 20 vehicles, including 10 armored ones.

Iran expects the Swedish government to respond responsibly to the clear demands of Muslims and monotheists. They emphasize the importance of adhering to fundamental principles of human rights and actively promoting ethics and peaceful coexistence among religions through practical and effective measures.
