Exports of saffron climbed by 70% yr/year in just 4 months

According to Gholamreza Miri, the head of the Iranian Saffron Exporters and Sellers Union, the value of saffron exports from Iran climbed by 70% in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21–July 22) compared to the same period in the previous year.

Iran (IMNA) - Miri claims that Iranian saffron growers exported 13.6 tons of the product in the aforementioned four months, which was 63 percent greater in terms of value than the number for the same period the previous year.

Miri reported that the nation's saffron exports for the previous calendar year were more than 239,000 tons.

Iran is one of the leading saffron producers in the world, and more than 90% of its output is exported.
