Iran, Vietnam prepared to intensify their collaboration in number of areas

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, has praised the good relations between Vietnam and the Islamic Republic of Iran and said that both countries have decided to increase their collaboration in a number of areas.

Iran (IMNA) - On Tuesday in Tehran's capital, Qalibaf and Vuong Dinh Hue, the head of the Vietnamese National Assembly, conducted talks on a variety of political and economic subjects before holding a joint news conference.

The development of joint committees between Iran and Vietnam was stressed during the meeting, the speaker continued, in order to strengthen cooperation in the economic, fishery, health, and medical sectors.

The two sides have also established agreements over customs and the non-collection of taxes on imported commodities, according to Qalibaf, who emphasized the urgency of speeding up their implementation.

He said that direct flights between Tehran and Hanoi will soon begin, citing a deal to relax the visa requirements between the two countries.

The Iranian parliament speaker went on to say that Hue's visit to Iran marked a turning point in the growth of relations between the two countries in a number of economic, cultural, and social spheres.

He said that strengthening connections with nations in East Asia is one of Iran's top priorities in terms of its foreign policy.

Hue, on the other hand, expressed gratitude to his Iranian counterpart for the invitation to visit Iran and expressed the hope that the visit would serve to further solidify the ties between Iran and Vietnam.

He also praised Iran's important role in West Asia and said Hanoi is serious about fostering cooperation between both countries in a number of governmental, municipal, and friendship organizations.

The two senior lawmakers signed a memorandum of understanding on legislative cooperation between their two countries at the conclusion of the news conference.

Since their diplomatic relations were established in 1973, Iran and Vietnam have exchanged top officials visits in order to deepen their political and economic ties.
