Ghalibaf urges Russia to adhere to Iran's red lines

Russia must understand that Iran's cooperation with neighbors is contingent on respecting the Iranian people's red lines, including sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the Iranian Parliament Speaker.

Iran (IMNA) - The contents of the Russia-PGCC joint declaration on Iran's trio islands are vehemently rejected by the Iranian Parliament, according to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Sunday.

Iran's dealings with all legitimate countries are guided by national interests and the three principles of honor, expediency, and wisdom, according to him.

He also referred to Iran and Russia as two significant countries in the area that are developing and boosting cooperation in a variety of spheres based on shared interests.

However, Russia must understand that Iran's cooperation with neighbors is contingent on respecting the Iranian people's red lines, including territorial integrity and sovereignty over the three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, the Greater, and Lesser Tunbs, he said.

"The territorial integrity of Iran has been preserved through the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of Iranian martyrs, and we will not compromise with any side in this matter," said Ghalibaf.

He stated that while Russia is a victim of the West's and NATO's geopolitical expansionism, it should not assist the West in destabilizing the Persian Gulf area.

He emphasized that Iran is the only guarantor of stability in the Persian Gulf and that it neutralizes the West's harmful ambitions in this sensitive region.

The three Persian Gulf islands of Abu Musa, the Greater and Lesser Tunbs, have traditionally been part of Iran, as evidenced by innumerable historical, legal, and geographical documentation in Iran and elsewhere.
