Tourist exchange between Iran, Egypt to restart after 44-year gap

Tourist exchange between Iran and Egypt is scheduled to begin after a 44-year hiatus, according to an Iranian tourism official.

Iran (IMNA) - Tourism exchange between the two nations is expected to begin within the next two months, according to Farhad Davai, as cited by ISNA on Monday.

Following the recent agreement between Iran and Egypt, the source noted, the direct interchange of visitors between Tehran, Mashhad, and Shiraz in Iran and Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt would again be available after a 44-year gap.

This endeavor is likely to begin within the next 45 days to two months, according to him.

Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in March that Iranians who come to South Sinai through a tourism agency can acquire a visa on arrival.

Furthermore, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian recently stated that the Islamic Republic is willing to normalizing relations with all Islamic countries, including Egypt and Morocco.

Iran's relationship with Egypt has been strained since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
