Iran (IMNA) - The FAO estimated that Iran exported 1.583 million metric tons (mt) of dairy products last year, whereas just 86,000 mt were thought to have been imported during the same time period.
According to FAO's Food Outlook, a biennial assessment on global food markets, Iran's dairy exports would account for 17% of total milk and dairy exports by Asian nations in 2022.
Dairy exports from Iran accounted for 13% of the country's total milk and dairy production last year, which reached 7.840 million mt, according to FAO estimates, with output expected to fall slightly to 7.820 million mt in 2023.
Since 2018, when American sanctions were imposed on Iran's oil exports, the country has taken considerable steps to maintain food security.
