Turkmenistan, Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan concur to ease movement of petroleum, cargo

A deal has been agreed between Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan to boost maritime cooperation and ease the transit of petroleum and cargo.

Iran (IMNA) - The agreement was struck during a meeting on Thursday in St. Petersburg between Yevgeny Moskvichev, the chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Transport and Infrastructure Development, and Mehrdad Bazrpash, the Iranian minister of roads and urban development.

Amirabad, Anzali, and Caspian ports were specifically brought up during their discussion of marine cooperation.

Bazrpash, who is in Russia for the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), stated Tehran is eager to collaborate with neighboring countries in the transportation industry in an interview.

According to the minister, Iran has made suggestions to Russia and other CIS states to improve cooperation in all kinds of transit, including maritime transit.

The Iranian minister said that Tehran is laying the groundwork for collaborative consortiums with additional neighbors in addition to the CIS nations.
