Expansion initiatives for Iran's KSC Steel total $800 million

KSC, Iran's second biggest steel mill, claims it has about $800 million in development projects planned, including a massive gas-fired power plant, that would greatly increase output and environmental sustainability once completed.

Iran (IMNA) - Khuzestan is a resource-rich region in southwest Iran that borders Iraq. According to the CEO of the Khouzestan Steel Company, the firm has spent almost 400 trillion rials on a total of 207 new projects to improve its output and generate more employment in Khuzestan.

According to Amin Ebrahimi, this level of investment is unlike anything in the country's industrial industry.

The Zamzam 3 Mill, which Ebrahimi stated will raise the company's output of sponge iron, formally known as direct reduced iron, by 2.2 million metric tons (mt) per year, is the most significant of KSC's growth projects.

He stated that September is the anticipated start-up date for the facility.

The 520 MW power station that would provide a steady supply of electricity to the company's mills is one of many significant projects that the CEO claimed KSC is rushing to complete.

According to earlier predictions, the Kuzestan Steel Power Plant will start up in 2024 at a projected cost of more than $355 million.

In order to power their industrial activities and give electricity to Iran's power system, Iranian firms have built a number of electricity stations. The gas-fired power plant is only one of them.

The Iranian government has pledged to provide electricity to power plants being built by big enterprises, such as steel and cement companies, on an ongoing basis.

The KSC was Iran's first direct reduction iron and electric arc furnace steel mill, and it started functioning in 1989. The business is Iran's largest manufacturer of steel bars and second-largest of semi-finished steel, or ingots.
