Iran (IMNA) - The Iranian hypersonic missile has a 1,400-kilometer range, travels at Mach 13–15, and is capable of piercing and destroying all anti-missile defenses.
Tuesday morning saw the unveiling event, which was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami, and IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh.
According to Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, the country has increased its deterrent capability and is currently helping to maintain stability and security in the area.
"What is the purpose of making missiles?' some people may wonder. They are for defense and deterrent," he said.
He emphasized the non-violent nature of Iran's defense force by quoting officials from neighboring countries who claimed that "Iran is a friend of difficult times and that there was nothing left of their country if it were not for the efforts of anti-terrorist General Qassem Soleimani and the IRGC's Quds Force as well as Iran's support for them against an invasion by Takfiris and Daesh terrorists."
"We produce missiles to protect ourselves from enemy aggression and to provide the Islamic Republic with such power that its opponents would never consider attacking it," Raeisi noted.
The precision-guided missile has exceptional mobility and stealthiness to avoid detection by radar systems.
The missile can achieve very high speeds and execute a variety of maneuvers in and out of the Earth's atmosphere in order to defeat all forms of air defense systems thanks to its solid fuel propulsion system and second-stage movable nozzle.
At the presentation ceremony, Hajizadeh said that Iran is now one of only four countries having the technology to build hypersonic missiles.
According to him, the hypersonic missile is unlike other types of missiles in that it cannot be stopped by any defense system since it may go in a range of directions and heights.
"The production of this missile is not the end of our work in this area. We will stay on this course so that no adversary would ever consider invading Iran, the IRGC commander said.
Hajizadeh said that Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, had endorsed and given the go-ahead for the missile activities. She noted that Ayatollah Khamenei had selected the name "Fattah," which is Arabic for "the opener."
