Turkmenistan, Iran ties could improve

In a meeting with Turkmenistan's National Assembly Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Raeisi stated that given the potentials, the two neighbors' bilateral connections may grow even more.

Iran (IMNA) - Tuesday afternoon in Tehran, President Raeisi met with a delegation from Turkmenistan led by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People's Council of the Turkmenistan National Assembly. Following the discussion, the two sides participated in a news conference with media.

"Good collaboration between the two countries has been formed in the water and power sectors. Both parties have made fresh decisions in the areas of transit and transportation, the Iranian president continued.

"Supplying of technical and engineering services [from Iran to Turkmenistan] will increase," he continued.

"We have good relations with the friendly and brotherly Turkmenistan, but the current level of relations is not satisfactory and those ties could further be expanded," Raeisi added.

The provision of engineering and technical services [from Iran to Turkmenistan] would rise, he continued.

"We have excellent relations with the fraternal Turkmenistan, but the present level of connections is not sufficient and those relations could further be expanded," Raeisi continued.

According to the Turkmen senior official, "cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy was constructive and is at a good level."

"We discussed energy, particularly gas and electricity, and Turkmenistan's policy is based on increasing gas exports, " Berdimuhamedov continued.

The top official said, "We discussed electricity and its export from Turkmenistan to Iran."

For the realization of significant projects and exports, we decided to operationalize land and maritime channels, said Berdimuhamedov.
