Iran (IMNA) - "Some Western countries want to see OPEC split up. In a meeting with OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais on Saturday in Tehran, Raeisi remarked, "The member states need to prevent the accomplishment of such ambitions by enhancing unity.
According to him, effective communication among the participants is crucial to OPEC's success.
Raeisi referred to Iran's ongoing "constructive" work with OPEC and stated that the Islamic Republic was adamant about enhancing relations with the group.
The establishment of OPEC, according to the Iranian president, was made to "support the rights of oil producers and prevent discrimination against them."
The US sanctions have played a significant role in keeping Iran's crude oil production at relatively low levels in recent years.
Javad Owji, the Iranian minister of petroleum, stated earlier this month that the country's output has just surpassed 3 million barrels per day (bpd), up from 2.4 million in 2021 but still falling short of the over 4 million bpd reported before to the implementation of US sanctions in 2018.
However, Owji stated that Iran's current oil output levels do not match the country's usable reserves, which he estimated to be about 154 billion barrels.
The OPEC official praised Iran's successful collaboration with the organization and its members during the summit, saying Tehran has always sought to improve cohesiveness within OPEC.
Ghais thought that by reaching an agreement among OPEC members, peace would be restored to the oil market.
