Iran seeks closer connections with Asia's developing economies

In a meeting held with Indonesia’s high-ranking officials, as Raeisi said, the will of the two countries to develop commercial, economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries was emphasized.

Iran (IMNA) - Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has emphasized the country's balanced collaboration with Asian developing nations, stating that the Islamic Republic follows a policy of regionalism and neighborliness in its dealings with diverse countries.

Raeisi made the comment upon his arrival at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran on Wednesday, following a two-day official visit to Jakarta at the request of his Indonesian counterpart, Joko Widodo.

Iran's strategy, according to Raeisi, is one of economic convergence and multilateralism, as well as extensive and balanced collaboration with Asia's growing countries like China, India, and Indonesia.

The Iranian president stated, "Our strategy in Asia is broad, and we seek to engage with growing economies in Asia; both with China and Russia, as well as with India and Indonesia," adding, "Our economy and that of Indonesia are complimentary. We were able to sign 11 agreements for bilateral cooperation during our visit.

Raeisi emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran bases its ties with various nations on a "policy of regionalism and neighborliness."

Raeisi said that the two nations stressed their desire to strengthen commercial, economic, political, and cultural links during a meeting with senior officials from Indonesia.

The Iranian president also thanked Indonesia's friendly and fraternal administration for the delegation from Iran's welcoming gesture.

Additionally, he spoke with Indonesian philosophers and academics as well as Iranians living in Indonesia and talked with Iranian and Indonesian businesses.
