Iran (IMNA) - "Iran is often regarded as an oil and gas-rich country. Other strengths of the nation have been eclipsed by the strong concentration on these two industries. The first step in this direction is to present the export capabilities of the Islamic Republic and get familiar with those of other countries, Raeisi stated on Sunday in Tehran, Iran, while speaking at the Iran Expo 2023 opening ceremony.
Therefore, he added, his government plans to raise the bar for its business and economic dealings with the majority of the countries it has diplomatic ties with.
Raeisi further mentioned that his administration had broken a 40-year record by exporting goods valued at more than $50 billion since taking office in early August 2021.
In other parts of his remarks, the Iranian president made reference to the discussions on the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and major world powers, and the lifting of sanctions against Iran, stressing that his administration will not link the country's development and problem-solving to the JCPOA.
"It was the United States that left the negotiating table, and it was the European parties who did not fulfill their commitments and reneged on their obligations under the deal," Raeisi said, reminding the JCPOA's European partners - Britain, France, and Germany - that Iran has logical and legitimate demands.
The Iranian president also remarked that the Iran Expo 2023 show, which began on May 7 and will end on May 10, serves as a suitable platform for the growth of economic and commercial connections between Iran and other countries.
The event, officially known as the 5th Export Potential Exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, highlights the country's trade and investment potential for overseas businesspeople and entrepreneurs.
