Leader praises Iranian workers' devotion to country, demands their job security

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, claims that the Iranian laborers' community has prevented the enemy from taking advantage of their legitimate grievances. He emphasizes the need for arduous and all-out efforts to prevent any potential acquisition of money or property through illegal or dishonest means.

Iran (IMNA) - Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on Saturday when greeting employees from throughout the country in honor of Labor Week.

"There have been several labor protests." According to the Leader, "some of these protests have been legitimate, and have been over delayed salaries, the transfer of a business to another entity, and other issues."

However, he added, they kept the enemy at bay and prevented it from exploiting the situation. The Leader also stated that the country's behavior of pursuing windfall profits should be eradicated. Ayatollah Khamenei stated that one's pay should be proportional to the amount of labour done.

He was outraged by economic activities such as bribery and usury and encouraged the administration and Parliament to take corruption seriously. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution urged the Iranian government and parliament to continue fighting corruption vehemently elsewhere in his speech.

"If an [Iranian] official lacks the guts to tackle a domestic corrupt, he will lack the courage to confront a foreign oppressor as well. Ayatollah Khamenei stated, "We hope that the administration and the Majlis (parliament) would continue the fight against the corruption threat.”

In his words, "A great deal of rampant corruption has its roots in unemployment," he identified unemployment as the primary source of corruption. We started a campaign to look at social issues with the previous administration three or four years ago. Even hours-long discussions to address social problems were attended by me. I've personally come to the view that unemployment is a major contributor to many of these ills.

"Addiction is linked to unemployment, as is corruption, and so are burglary, divorce, and family breakdown." "Those institutions in charge of job creation should understand how important it is for society to see new opportunities emerge," Ayatollah Khamenei stated.
