Foreign military deployment costly, detrimental to regional security

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian believes that foreign military presence in the region is detrimental to regional security.

Iran (IMNA) - The statements were made by Amir-Abdollahian during a meeting with his Omani colleague Sayyid Badr Albusaidi in Muscat on Tuesday.

On the request of an Omani official, Iran's top diplomat departed to the Omani capital as the leader of a high-level political mission.

Amir-Abdollahian cited inclusive and indispensable security as a critical requirement for the region. In the same vein, he recognized the foreign military deployment as costly as well as detrimental to regional security.

Muscat's stance of sympathy for the Palestinian people was praised by Iran's foreign minister.

Concerning bilateral relations, Amir-Abdollahian praised Muscat's policy of providing support for the strengthening and reinforcement of relations with Tehran, saying that upcoming visits by Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi to the Omani capital and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Tehran would mark a watershed moment in bilateral relations.

The Iranian official also praised Muscat and Baghdad's preparations to hold meetings between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which agreed to mend their relations under China's mediation last month, in other parts of his speech.

He emphasized the significance of regional cooperation and expressed his happiness at the positive and hopeful direction that intra-regional ties had developed as a result of the Iranian administration's good-neighbor approach.

Finally, Amir-Abdollahian declared admiration for the "significant" step" that had been taken toward the achievement of peace in Yemen, particularly the concurrent travel to the Yemeni capital of Sana'a by respective Omani and Saudi envoys voicing hope that the talks that had taken place would lead the way for peace.
