Iran strongly condemned latest desecration of holy Quran

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson sharply denounced the most recent incident of Muslim holy book desecrating in Denmark, calling it a continuation of Takfiri extremism and bloodshed.

Iran (IMNA) - After a Danish group torched a copy of the Holy Qur'an during a protest in the capital Copenhagen, Nasser Kanani made the comment. The gang reportedly also set fire to the Turkish flag at the same protest, according to media sources.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman added, "This is the most appalling way to demonstrate the claim that the West calls freedom of expression," pointing out that this insulting action was carried out on Friday, which also happened to be International Quds Day, when all truth seekers around the world were demanding the liberation of al-Quds from the Zionist regime's occupation."

"Being free to insult Muslim sanctuaries is another facet of Takfiri extremism and violence that deserves the same level of global condemnation and repression," he continued.

Kan'ani also encouraged Denmark's government to take firm action to prevent such heinous actions from happening again.

Since last year, the number of insults directed towards Islam and its sacred book has increased across Europe. Several European nations have hosted such heinous actions on their territory in recent months, eliciting widespread criticism from Muslim countries throughout the world.
