Iran, France to address current problem on basis of mutual respect

According to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Tehran and Paris share the view that negotiations should continue on the basis of mutual respect in order to overcome the current problems.

Iran (IMNA) - Amir-Abdollahian made the statements in a Twitter post on Friday, a day after meeting with his French opposite number Catherine Colonna in Beijing as part of President Emmanuel Macron's state visit to China.

The senior Iranian diplomat has reprimanded France for failing to meet its duties under the 2015 nuclear deal, known technically as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. (JCPOA).

The two-hour meeting with Colonna, according to the Iranian foreign minister, covered a range of topics, including bilateral relations, the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to mend their seven-year-old rift, the situation in Ukraine, regional issues like Palestine and Lebanon, Tehran's peaceful nuclear program, and the lifting of sanctions.

At the Beijing peace negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Amir-Abdollahian was in charge of the Iranian delegation.
