Iran's yearly gas consumption increased by 1.25% year on year to March

According to a top official at the NIGC, the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), the nation's consumption of natural gas increased 1.25% in the year leading up to March 20 to total 242 billion cubic meters (bcm).

Iran (IMNA) - Mohammad Reza Julayi, the NIGC's chief of dispatching operations, stated on Monday that consumption by households, enterprises, and small industries accounted for 123 billion cubic meters of natural gas consumed in Iran in the previous calendar year.

Julayi stated that 71 billion cubic meters of gas had been provided to power plants across Iran in the year to late March, while 48 billion cubic meters of gas had been supplied to significant sectors like as metals and petrochemical businesses.

He said that during the second half of the previous calendar year, when the nation experienced an increase in the need for heating, Iran's gas consumption totaled more than 132 bcm.

Nonetheless, the source said that Iran has avoided any interruptions in gas delivery to consumers during the course of the year up until March, mostly due to superior consumption control procedures implemented by the National Iranian Gas Company.

The overall volume of gas supplied to Iran's national gas system in the year up to late March has not been made public by the NIGC.

This sum will comprise the supplies sent to Turkey and Iraq for sale as well as the gas pumped into oil and gas deposits to boost well production.

At the same time, data released by the Iranian Oil Ministry earlier this year showed that the country's gas output had surpassed 1 bcm per day.
