Iranian court handed out punishments in connection with Shah Cheragh attack

Two individuals who participated in a horrific terrorist attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in the southern city of Shiraz last October have been handed down the death penalty by an Iranian court.

Iran (IMNA) - The two primary perpetrators of the terrorist attack were found guilty of supporting global corruption, armed rebellion, and acting against national security, according to Kazem Moussavi, the judiciary chief of Fars Province, who made the announcement on Saturday.

He said the two were fully engaged in the main perpetrator of the terrorist assault on the Shah Cheragh arming, procurement, logistics, and counseling.

The terrorist organization Daesh took credit for the assault.

An armed terrorist entered Shiraz's famed holy shrine on October 26, 2022, murdering 15 pilgrims—including women and children—and wounded many more before being apprehended by security personnel.

After suffering injuries in the attack that shocked the nation, the terrorist was eventually confirmed dead at a hospital.

Two weeks after the incident, the Intelligence Ministry reported the arrest of 26 Takfiri terrorists for participating in the attack. A few suspects were promptly apprehended.

According to the statement, they are all citizens of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan; none of them are Iranians.

Moussavi went on to say that the two individuals condemned to death had admitted having been in communication with Daesh main leaders and assisting in the planning of the assault.

According to the judicial official, three other accused in the case were sentenced to five, fifteen, and twenty-five years in jail for being members of the Daesh terrorist group and supporting it.
