Iran (IMNA) - On Friday, Amir Saeid Iravani made the statement during a UN General Assembly event in observance of the annual International Day to Fight Islamophobia, which marked on March 15.
The top Iranian diplomat said, "Today's conference symbolizes the strong commitment of the participants to address the issue of Islamophobia, including abhorrence, discrimination, terrorist acts, and violence against Muslims and their religious values, beliefs, and traditions.
"The world is currently seeing the occupying Israeli regime's persistent attack against al-Quds and Muslims throughout the occupied Palestinian areas.
Moreover, under the guise of free expression, the Holy Qur'an is desecrated in several European nations," he remarked.
"During the last few decades, we have witnessed a large network of media platforms, which have generated a hostile and aggressive attitude towards Muslims in violation of their human rights under the pretense of news distribution," Iravani stated.
According to the Iranian diplomat, the time has come for the international community, particularly world authorities and countries claiming to be supporters of human rights, to combat hate toward Muslims, who make up a substantial portion of the world's population.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran firmly condemns any violence against anyone based on their belief and religion, and expresses solidarity with the victims of Islamophobic acts wherever in the world," he added.
The United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 76/254 on March 15, 2022, declaring March 15 as the International Day To Combat Islamophobia.
