Isfahan, India to build strong relationships

"The Municipality of Isfahan expresses its complete willingness to host any program and cultural event at the discretion of the Iranian Embassy in India, so that we can more promote the Shia school of thought in India effectively than ever," the Mayor of Isfahan Ali Ghasemzade said.

Iran (IMNA) - Congratulating on the arraival of Shabaniyeh holidays, Ghasemzade noted, "Isfahan Municipality's department for sister cities affairs is highly active. India's Hyderabad is one of the cities that has passed several stages of consultations and talks on the realization of its sister-city tie with Isfahan.

He went on to say that the sister-city relationship between Isfahan and Hyderabad has not been finalized so far, and we hope that this agreement will be conducted during the sixth period of the urban management, adding, "In addition to the realization of this agreement, Isfahan Municipality is quite ready to hold any program and cultural event at the discretion of the Iranian Embassy in India, so that we can more promote the Shia school of thought in India effectively than ever."

The mayor of Isfahan addressed the historic long-standing relationship between the people of Isfahan, and roots of Indian Shi'ism in Iran, and said, "during the presence of Fazil Isfahani or Fazil Hindi , the the relationships between Isfahan and India hit its highest peak. Fazil was a man of cloth (mujtahid) who lived in Isfahan during the Safavid period and departed for India at some point.

He emphasized, In addition to being ready to hold joint cultural programs, Isfahan Municipality can host groups and individuals introduced by the Iranian Embassy in India, among whom artists hold a special place in this regard."

Ghasemzadeh stated, "In this regard, we could establish a special relationship with the Isfahanis residing in India and take steps to raise the standard of living in the city of Isfahan throgh social networks."
