Isfahan looks to strengthen cultural ties with ECO states

Isfahan is willing to forge a closer partnership with member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization on cultural issues to promote shared values and heritage, the city’s mayor has said.

Iran (IMNA) - “There is scope for establishing more interaction and joint communications between Isfahan and ECO member countries in cultural fields, which could include the celebration of Persian language laureates,” Isfahan’s Mayor Ali Qasemzadeh said on Monday.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the head of the ECO Cultural Institute, Murodjon Buriboev, adding: “We are prepared to serve as the venue for the Eco-Cultural Institute's meeting in Isfahan.”

“In terms of the ECO Cultural Institute's capabilities and missions, joint interactions and collaborations can be defined. In this regard, we hope that the results of these conferences will be advantageous to all countries, including ECO members,” Qasemzadeh stated.

Citing another example, the mayor said Nowruz [ an ancient festival that marks the Persian New Year and the official beginning of spring] is one of the many cultural similarities between our country and other ECO members.

Moreover, the head of the representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Isfahan said, “We at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are ready to facilitate any kind of cooperation and communication between the city of Isfahan and the ECO Cultural Institute, and we will not hesitate to make any effort in this way.”

“The ECO Cultural Institute and Isfahan Municipality have established relationships and have been working together for years.”Alireza Salarian added.

The Economic Cooperation Organization was established in Tehran in 1985 to promote trade and investment opportunities.
