Iran (IMNA) - According to Hamdi Hosseini, a prominent member of Iran's Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Products Exporters Union (OPEX), oil shipments from Iran topped $13 billion between March 2022 and January this year.
Hosseini stated that Iran made $4.9 billion from 6.6 million metric tons (mt) of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exports in the nine months to late December, a 120% increase over the same time last year.
In the nine months to late December, he claimed, Iran's methanol exports totaled $1.8 billion for 6.8 million mt of consignments.
The businessman also stated that Iran sold 1.6 million mt of urea worth $975 million in the nine calendar months leading up to the end of 2022, and that polymer exports climbed by 77% over the same time.
The numbers come as Iran continues its efforts to enhance its exports of petroleum products and petrochemicals as a means of avoiding Western sanctions that would otherwise damage its direct crude oil shipments.
According to experts, the approach has increased Iran's non-oil exports and resulted in the creation of tens of thousands of new employment opportunities in the country.
