Iran says Israel engaged in Isfahan drone strike, arrests key mercenaries

The principal offenders of a recent foiled drone attack in the central city of Isfahan, during which Israeli "hirelings" were implicated, have been apprehended by Iranian security forces.

"The major perpetrators of the failed effort on January 8 to damage a Defense Ministry industrial center in Isfahan have been identified and apprehended," Iran's Intelligence Ministry and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) stated in a joint statement on Friday.

The statement said, "So far, it has been proven that mercenaries of the Zionist regime (Israel) were involved in that act." It stressed that the unsuccessful attempt was a desperate response to the crushing setbacks it had experienced inside the Occupied Territories.

According to the statement, any act of infringement on Iranian territory would be met with a stern response from Iran's security forces. It, however, reiterated that the Israeli attack would not go unanswered and forewarned the regime of a "lesson to remember".

Israel has repeatedly threatened to launch attacks against Iranian facilities and infrastructure over the years, and Tehran has interpreted these threats as part of the Israeli regime's psychological campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the province of Isfahan, there are several nuclear facilities, including Natanz, the focal point of Iran's uranium enrichment program. In recent years, there have been several explosions and fires near Iranian military, nuclear, and industrial sites.
