Iran's unemployment rate decreased by 0.7% YOY in the December quarter

According to data from the Statistical Center of Iran, the unemployment rate in the country decreased by 0.7% in the quarter ending late December of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

Iran (IMNA) - As reported by SCI data cited in a Tasnim news published on Tuesday, Iran's workforce participation rate improved by 0.1% year over year in the December quarter to reach 41%.

According to the data, the overall number of persons employed in Iran increased by 535,000 during the October-December of 2022 to a total of 24.07 million.

During the three months before December 21 last year, the services sector accounted for 51.1% of all employment, followed by the manufacturing sector at 34.6% and agriculture at 14.3%, according to figures by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI).

The youth unemployment rate, which includes those between the ages of 15 and 24, was 19.2% in the December quarter of the previous year, down 4.4% from the same period in 2021, as reported by the Iranian government's statistics department.

According to the agency, the unemployment rate for Iranians between the ages of 18 to 35 dropped by 1.3% year on year during October-December quarter of 2022, reaching 14.8%.
