Iran (IMNA) - “Appreciate all parents throughout the world” is the theme of global parents day 2022.
This theme is the endorsement of parents’ struggles and sacrifices towards their children across the world.
Also, this theme urges us to acknowledge Parents’ worth & affection and to value the sacrifices they make for their children. Parents, undoubtedly provide an environment for the development of a child’s personality. Due to some social, economical or geographical factors, parents may find it difficult to be with their families but their love and care never do so.
The covid-19 pandemic hugely raised the responsibilities of parents. They not only financially supported their families but also looked after their non-school-going children at home.
This year’s theme is dedicated to all such parents throughout the world who work, suffer and sacrifice for the comfort of their families. Word “family” itself carries no weightage even if we suppose to exclude parents. With this theme, let us affirm that we will bring a smile to the faces of our parents. We will praise them and will thank them for the shelter and happiness they brought to the family. 2021’s global parents day theme also instigates us to remember the lost-ones from our parents. It pays tribute to them for their valuable efforts for our existence and survival.
History
The United Nations started focusing on issues related to families during the 1980s. The Commission for Social Development, in 1983, urged the UN Secretary-General to enhance awareness, among the public and lawmakers, about the problems and needs of the family as well as the effective ways of meeting those needs.
In December 1989, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 1994 as the International Year of the Family under resolution 44/82. The global body later decided to observe 15 May each year as the International Day of Families. Under its mission of drawing attention to the importance of families in society, the UNGA announced that 1 June will be observed as the Global Day of Parents to honour parents all over the world.
Purpose of World Parents Day
The major and basic purpose of Global Parents Day is to accept the sacrifices and affections of parents towards children. Not only parents rather grandparents and great grandparents are also a part of this day.
Those who are lucky enough to have grandparents in life swing a lot of pleasures of childhood. So Global Day of Parents urges upon to show gratitude and due respect to the elderly.
