Global registration of Isfahan's cultural and historical axis being underway

"The global registration of the cultural and historical axis of Isfahan is one of the big steps forward that is being taken with the full involvement of the Municipality and the cooperation of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization; This is a very arduous task and tedious project that will take several years; however, we hope it will be inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List," The director of Isfahan Municipality's Renovation and Improvement Department said.

Iran (IMNA) - Emphsizing that that the Municipality of Isfahan pays special attention to historical textures in the new period of urban management, Mohammad-Ali Izadkhasti said, "The Municipality considers the historical context as one of the great capitals of the city. In this regard, major policies have been defined, and great things are happening at the moment."

He continued, "The global registration of the cultural and historical axis of Isfahan is one of the big steps forward that is being taken with the full involvement of the Municipality and the cooperation of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization; This is a very arduous task and tedious project that will take several years; however, we hope it will be inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List."

Noting that the registration of Isfahan's historical and cultural axis is being underway while takig the the protection and preservation policies of the city's historical architecture into account, the director of Isfahan Municipality's Renovation and Improvement Department said, "the development roadmap for treating historical contexts and buildings, socialization and prosperity of urban spaces and historical sites, are other major policies of the Municipality."

Izadkhasti pointed out, "Another macro-policy of urban management is to receive the opinion of the elites pertaining such matters, based on which approvals should be formulated."

He emphasized, "we [municipal officials] are more inclined to listen to the opinions of experts and activists so that we can draw the right roadmap."

"The mayor himself will be the direct addressee of the experts, so they are challenged to share their experiences on historical context of the city," the director of Isfahan Municipality's Renovation and Improvement Department ended.
