Isfahan's cultural identity to be maintained by newly elected mayor

Iran (IMNA) - "We hope to maintain the dignity of Isfahan with a cultural perspective and help it shine like an emerald in the world, remaining as a destination for tourists who visit our city with love and passion, "the Mayor of Isfahan said.

"I thank God that I can serve the people of Isfahan during a four-year period," Ali Ghasemzadeh said.

He added: Isfahan is a city that has a high cultural and civilizational identity and personality by its very nature, and I hope that in the next four years, may we [urban management board] never do anything causing harm to Isfahan's identity."

The mayor of Isfahan pointed out, "Sometimes making a mistake, such as constructing a building or staging an event that slide below the dignity of the city, may damage the character of Isfahan; so, I hope we can take the lead towards the development of Isfahan with the participation of intellectuals, elites and people who own the city."

Referring to the people's concerns about the administrative processes in the municipality, Ghasemzadeh said, "I am aware of such concerns and I hope, by the grace of God, we [urban management board] can take some sort of actions to build trust and confidence in city administration body, then people can actively pursue their affairs safely."

Emphasizing that the municipality should be recognized as a safe reference for citizens, he added: "Such coordination may become unattainable unless we join hands and move the municipality towards better conditions with the help of citizens."

The mayor of Isfahan emphasized, "There is no doubt that Isfahan belongs to the people of this city, however, it is adored by all Iranians and many intellectuals around the world. Isfahan is well-known in global stage and considered as the favorite of those who are interested in culture, history and civilization."
