Iran (IMNA) - 355 COVID-19 deaths were reported during the last 24 hours, which pushed the death toll to 116,791, Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education announced.
The country has reported 12847 more COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 5,408,860 in a fresh outbreak driven by the highly transmissible delta variant
The latest restrictions were initiated after officials discovered new cases among young people who were infected while traveling at night to social gatherings.
Earlier, Iranian officials imposed a nationwide curfew to contain the spread of COVID-19, banning the entry of private vehicles from dark red zones into other yellow areas. However, by observing the slight downward slope of the coronavirus's fifth wave, some night-time curfews and travel restrictions have been removed.
As the Islamic Republic fights a fifth wave of infections, a senior Iranian official announced that Iran’s government has approved use of U.S. firm Johnson & Johnson's (JNJ.N) COVID-19 vaccine
