Iran (IMNA) - "The green space area of Isfahan, which is considered as the heritage and the legacy of the past, is more than four thousand hectares; we should try to preserve them, " Forough Mortezainejhad said.
"Zayandehrud River being dried up and aquifer depletion have led to using wastewater for irrigation purposes; the necessary planning has been performed to take advantage of the treated wastewater, " she added.
"If the effluents reflect a green color or an unpleasant smell, it is due to the fact that the supplementary and secondary treatment have not been completed, " The Director General of Isfahan municipality’s Parks and Green Space Organization continued.
She emphasized that the Municipality of Isfahan spends billions of Tomans for wastewater treatment and monitoring processing, and said, "The microbial load of the consumed effluents for irrigation of green spaces are at standard level and will not make any problem for citizens. "
Stressing that all the effluents have been disinfected and include no microbial load, Forough Mortezainejhad said, "In the last two years, large amount of the budgets have been allocated to irrigation by six municipal areas of Isfahan.
"Many plans have been made to irrigate the green spaces with effluents and we have benefited from the viewpoints of the university professors in this regard; during the purification process, pathogenic microorganisms are deactivated or killed, then the secondary and supplementary treatments will be performed, " she ended by emphasizing that we should keep the urban trees healthy.
