Pocket parks to be developed in Isfahan

“Using 100 square meters of urban land, the organization aims at developing pocket parks in the city with an eye toward increasing social interactions in urban green spaces,” The Director General of Isfahan municipality’s Parks and Green Space Organization, Forough Mortezaei Nejad, said.

Iran (IMNA) - "Pocket parks are small-scale areas that increase green space per capita, boost citizens' satisfaction and provide public access to the nearest green areas," Mortezaei Nejad stated.

She added, "Pocket parks are a missing chain in the hierarchy of urban parks that can play an effective role in providing peace and leisure for citizens."

The Director General of Isfahan municipality’s Parks and Green Space Organization said that the first pocket park of Isfahan has been launched in Khalaja street with the aim of strengthening the cultural and social dimension of the region as well as symbolizing the historical aspect of the 80-year-old sycamore. "

She pointed out, "pocket parks are a new trend to develop the city's green spaces, provide educational facilities and promote civic culture at the lowest cost."

“According to a survey, citizens, especially the elderly, welcomed the pocket parks,” she noted.
Providing pocket parks and green spaces for city residents especially apartment dwellers is essential to allow people engagimg in activities, relaxing, or to enjoy the outdoors.
