Iran (IMNA) - "Energy management, like other handling approaches, can be established in organizations within the framework of a management system," the Deputy Mayor of Isfahan for urban services Hossein Amiri said.
Saying that the energy management system based on ISO 50001 is a tool for steady improvement in the field of consumption, efficiency and selection of energy resources, he added, “by implementing the energy management system, the emission of environmental pollutants will be reduced and the right amount of energy with the desired quality and cost will be put forward.”
Referring to receiving the ISO 50001 standard in the field of energy consumption management, the deputy mayor of Isfahan for urban services noted, “considering the type of facilities, equipment and services in more than 500 urban parks, as well as lighting in public places and historic buildings, countless fountains and other facilities that are considered as high energy consumption sectors, the municipality of Isfahan is bound to comply with international and national standards.”
He continued, "According to the series of software-hardware based measures taken during the past three years in the field of energy consumption management, and after final verification by standard setting organizations, Isfahan Municipality succeeded in establishing the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard. "
Referring to the purpose of implementing the ISO 50001 standard in municipal facilities, Amiri stated, "This standard includes the requirements for implementing, maintaining and improving the energy management system, and aims to empower the municipality to achieve a solution to improve energy performance."
Emphasizing that the implementation of ISO 50001 standard will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the deputy mayor of Isfahan for urban services said, “Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing energy costs and other environmental consequences are part of the correct and principled implementation of the systematic energy management in any organization.”
