Coronavirus kills 163 more in Iran over past 24 hours

Iran recorded 10,468 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, along with 163 deaths from COVID-19, the Health Ministry officials announced on Wednesday.

Iran (IMNA) - Iran has registered more than 2,865,864 cases of the virus since the pandemic began, while the official death toll has risen to 79,219 according to ministry data.

10,468 new coronavirus infections have been identified over the past 24 hours, some 1504 of whom have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

To combat the outbreak, Iranian government has recommended preventive measures such as observing social distancing, wearing facemasks and reducing mass-crowding.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 168 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at 3,501,271; however, more than 150 million people have recovered.
