COVID-19 claimed 60,353 lives so far

The spokeswoman of Iran's health ministry reported 8,525 additional Coronavirus cases and 86 more deaths, bringing the official number of cases to 1,656,699 and the death toll to 60,353.

Iran (IMNA) - The spokesperson of Iran's health ministry, Sima Sadat Lari, said that 86 more Iranians have lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours bringing the country’s total deaths to 60,353.

8,525 new coronavirus infections were detected over the past 24 hours, of whom 764 have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

There have been nearly 1,656,699 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far in Iran, 1,413,717 of the cases cured or discharged from the hospitals.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 115 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at least 2,562,647; however, more than 91,193,905 people have recovered.

Iranian healthcare workers have already made huge sacrifices in order to reduce the number of people getting infected in the country, however, cases are still high and hospitals are under significant pressure dut to the new variants spreading across the country.
