Iran reports 7,975 new confirmed coronavirus cases

Iran recorded 7,975 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, along with 81 deaths from COVID-19, the spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education said on Saturday.

Iran (IMNA) - Iran has registered more than 1,623,159 cases of the virus since the pandemic emerged, while the official death toll has risen to 59,980 according to ministry data.

7,975 new coronavirus infections have been identified over the past 24 hours, some 418 of whom have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

In the past days, government data shows an upward trend in infections and deaths as hospital admissions are growing in Iran’s Coronavirus red and orange zones.

To curb the Coronavirus, Iranian government has recommended preventive measures such as observing social distancing, wearing facemasks and reducing mass-crowding.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 114 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at 2,531,102; however, more than 89 million people have recovered.
