Citizen Diplomat new initiative enhancing international relations

The Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Isfahan said, "Citizen Diplomat Plan is a new initiative in strengthening Isfahan's international relations. As the Coronavirus pandemic subsides, and international relations get improved in the wake of the hostile US behaviors ended, we hope to witness an improvement in Isfahan's urban diplomacy."

Iran (IMNA) - In the course of an online meeting between the mayor of Isfahan and the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Malaysia, Alireza Salarian said, "The capacities of Isfahan in various scientific, artistic, cultural and economic sectors are the pre-eminent examples in the country and the cooperation and measures that the Municipality of Isfahan has carried out in this regard, especially over the recent period, are commendable."

He added, "From the beginning the mayor's leadership, Ghodratollah Norouzi paid great attention to strengthening inter-city relations and urban diplomacy; this approach has helped us to boost Isfahan's relations with other cities so far."

Salarian called Citizen Diplomat Plan as an arm aiding public diplomacy and said, "Iranian embassies in other countries have been asked to inform about the Citizen Diplomat Plan through various channels to encourage Iranians abroad to participate in this project."

Referring to the ceremony of the International Exhibition of Persian Handicrafts, which will be held in Isfahan, he ended, "This exhibition can provide a basis for strengthening Isfahan's international relations with other cities; Iranian ambassadors to other countries can arrange for various delegations to attend the exhibition with the aim of encouraging them to travel to Isfahan."
