6,317 new COVID-19 cases reported

Iran reported 6,317 new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 1, 305,339, Iranian Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari announced Wednesday.

Iran (IMNA) - Lari also said the country has lost a further 97 people due to COVID-19 during the same period, pushing the national death toll to 56,457.

The cumulative number of confirmed cases has reached to over 92 million; 1,972,676 deaths has also been reported since the start of the pandemic.

The new respiratory virus has spread across the world, prisoned billions of people into quarantine as health workforce struggle to cope.

Daily Coronavirus cases have fallen in many countries after some steep rises in December. Several countries including Iran have now invented coronavirus vaccines for use but as populations await their final trials, cases remain high across many parts of the world.

Despite the new hopes for new effective vaccines, Iranian health officials concern about the new coronavirus variant that may rise in Iran.
