Iran reports 5,968 new COVID-19 cases

The situation of the pandemic has not changed significantly and it is far from over; the goal for all countries is to stay safe with no new cases of coronavirus.

Iran (IMNA) - The number of newly confirmed cases highly depends on countries' ability to set preventive strategies for containing the virus.

The human toll of the coronavirus continues to mount amid growing fears about the f new variants of the virus.

Iranian authorities on Saturday announced another 5,968 new infections and 71 related fatalities, taking the total death toll to 56,171, one of the highest in Asia.

There have been nearly 1,286,406 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far in Iran, 1,074,887 of the cases cured or discharged from the hospitals.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since World War II. Since its emergence in Asia late last year, the virus has spread to all countries except Antarctica.

With vaccines being developed, many hopes for global recovery have been highlighted.
