Coronavirus kills 128 more in Iran over past 24 hours

Iran recorded 6,390 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, along with 128 deaths from COVID-19, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

Iran (IMNA) - Iran has registered more than 1,225,143 cases of the virus since the pandemic began, while the official death toll has risen to 55, 223 according to ministry data.

6,390 new coronavirus infections have been identified over the past 24 hours, some 702 of whom have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

The number of cases slowed down after reaching the peak in the autumn but even with a reduction, it has not reached low levels.

In the past days, government data shows an upward trend in infections and deaths as hospital admissions are growing in Iran’s Coronavirus orange zones.

To combat the outbreak, Iranian government has recommended preventive measures such as observing social distancing, wearing facemasks and reducing mass-crowding.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 83 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at 1,815,518; however, more than 59 million people have recovered.
