COVID-19 killed 55,095 Iranians

The spokeswoman of Iran's health ministry reported 6,272 additional Coronavirus cases and 149 more deaths, bringing the official number of cases to 1,218,753 and the death toll to 55,095.

Iran (IMNA) - The spokesperson of Iran's health ministry, Sima Sadat Lari, said that 149 more Iranians have lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours taking the country’s tally of total deaths to 55,095.

6,272 new coronavirus infections were detected over the past 24 hours, of whom 807 have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

There have been nearly 1,218,753 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far in Iran, 978,714 of the cases cured or discharged from the hospitals.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 82 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at least 1,804,047; however, more than 58,609,295 people have recovered.

Over the past weeks, Iranian authorities have enacted policies to close nonessential businessesto curb the transmission of the Coronavirus.
