Iran (IMNA) - "This initiative seeks to identify the distinguished citizens, including businessmen, professors, athletes, students, cultural and media activists, Iranians abroad and those who have appropriate and authorized platforms and channels to introduce and strengthen Isfahan's brand and capacities in sister cities and countries where they live in order to take actions in enhancing the cultural, artistic, economic and scientific relations," Hojjati continued.
This initiative of the communication and international affairs department at the municipality of Isfahan, supporting by the Representative Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Isfahan, the Consortium of International Scientific Cooperation of Universities, Isfahan science and technology town and the city’s Chamber of Commerce recognizing as the main intellectual and executive bodies, is on the agenda; In step with the plans, 13 series of meetings entitled "Sisters Cities Symposium" will be held to identify operational possible cooperation".
Emphasizing that the municipality of Isfahan intends to build a platform to the development of urban diplomacy on the basis of citizen diplomacy, Iman Hojjati pointed out," The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Deputy office for Public Diplomacy have officially announced to Isfahan Municipality that this initiative can be introduced as an inspiring model to the rest of Iran's metropolises."
Noting that the municipality of Isfahan has tried to effectively communicate with all sister cities over the past years, especially to those with less interaction, he added, "The Citizen Diplomat plan can be a response to the constant demands of citizens and institutions to use the capacity of 13 sister cities through which both sides can enter the field of urban diplomacy."
