COVID-19 killed 53,816 Iranians

The spokeswoman of Iran's health ministry reported 6,151 additional Coronavirus cases and 191 more deaths, bringing the official number of cases to 1,164,535 and the death toll to 53,816.

Iran (IMNA) - The spokesperson of Iran's health ministry, Sima Sadat Lari, said that 191 more Iranians have lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours taking the country’s tally of total deaths to 53,816.

6,151 new coronavirus infections were detected over the past 24 hours, of whom 991 have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

There have been nearly 1,164,535 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far in Iran, 894,366 of the cases cured or discharged from the hospitals.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 77 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at least 1,701,599 ; however, more than 54,168,652 people have recovered.

Over the past weeks, Iranian authorities have enacted policies to close nonessential businessesto curb the transmission of the Coronavirus.
