COVID-19 claimed 53,625 lives so far

The spokeswoman of Iran's health ministry reported 6,312 additional Coronavirus cases and 177 more deaths, bringing the official number of cases to 1,158,384 and the death toll to 53,625.

Iran (IMNA) - The spokesperson of Iran's health ministry, Sima Sadat Lari, said that 177 more Iranians have lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours bringing the country’s total deaths to 51,212.

6,312 new coronavirus infections were detected over the past 24 hours, of whom 805 have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

There have been nearly 1,158,384 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far in Iran, 855,054 of the cases cured or discharged from the hospitals.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 76 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at least 1,693,672; however, more than 53,827,490 people have recovered.

As Iranians prepare for the Yalda Night, serious traffic restrictions has been put into place to stave off a new wave of coronavirus infections and deaths in the country.
