New restrictions to take effect on December 19 and 20

Iranian Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said that 251 more Iranians have lost their lives as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours bringing the death toll to 52,447.

Iran (IMNA) - Though the number of daily cases has declined following two-week quarantine, Iran's National Headquarter for Managing and Fighting the Coronavirus has imposed set of guidelines to curb the further spread of the disease which will come into effect during December 19 and 20.

Iran registered 7501 further infections over the past 24 hours, according to official data. Since the emergence of the pandemic, Coronavirus has infected 1,115,770 people in Iran.

Iranian health officials reiterated calls on people to avoid visiting their hometowns and meeting with relatives during the Yalda Night festival when families traditionally gather, worrying that the celebration, which runs on 20 December, may lead to a spike in the coronavirus transmission.

Officials concern about the fact that success in crushing early outbreaks of the third wave of coronavirus may partially reversed by reuniting families on Shab-e Yalda.
