Decline in COVID-19 cases remains fragile in Iran

Iran Friday became the 15 country with more than 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases.

Iran (IMNA) - The government figures show that over the past 24 hours, 9594 additional Coronavirus cases have been identified, bringing the total number of cases to 1,092,617 and the death toll to 51728.

Iranian officials reported decline in mortality rates with 232 deaths during the past 24 hours.

The number of people who have recuperated from the infectious disease reported 787,853, and hospital admissions for covid-19 has been 1408 over the past 24 hours.

National lockdown restrictions went into effect across Iran for two weeks to contain an increase in infections with restaurants, bars, cafes and other nonessential businesses closed. Citizens were allowed to leave their homes only for work, essential shopping and doctor appointments.

it appears there has been a slowdown in case numbers; however, epidemiologists say the numbers should be interpreted with caution.

They believe that the recent decline in cases and deaths is a promising signal, but it's far too early to say that the pandemic is dwindling in the country.
