Iran (IMNA) -"If the development of cities continues in ever-present routine, it will not be able to provide a good, peaceful and happy life context for children; thus, in addition to the role of families, urban management board should emphasize and create a suitable environment for children in practice," Alireza Norouzi, an urban planning experts said.
Emphasizing the need to take more serious measures to fulfill the slogan of a child-friendly city, he said, "It is not possible to claim that the city is a child-friendly one just by holding a festival."
"All benefits of a child-friendly city will return to the citizens as they live in a safe city. Two important priorities of a child-friendly city are children's happiness and their health; a city that meets such needs undoubtedly will be a suitable place for all walks of life, especially adolescents and women," Norouzi continued.
"In practice, a child friendly community should hear children's voices and meet their needs to get the deserved title; having a place to play and enjoy themselves is the small-scale measure that urban officials can do in this regard, " he ended.
The Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) was launched in 1996 to respond to the challenge of realizing the rights of children in an increasingly urbanized and decentralized world. A CFC is a city or community where children's voices, needs and rights are integrated in laws, policies, regulations, programmes and budgets.
