Iran reports 8,289 new COVID-19 cases

The coronavirus pandemic caused by the new respiratory virus‌ has killed over 1,206,733 people and infected 46,930,976 worldwide.

Iran (IMNA) - The spokesperson of the country’s health ministry, Sima Sadat Lari, said that 440 more Iranians have lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours taking the country’s tally of total deaths to 35,738.

8,289 new coronavirus infections were detected over the past 24 hours, of whom 3,023 have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.

There have been nearly 628,780 confirmed cases of coronavirus so far in Iran, 491247 of the cases cured or discharged from the hospitals.

The all-out-efforts of Iranian officials have focused on taking measures to curb the outbreak and prevent further spread.

According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 46 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at least 1,206 million; however, more than 33,804 million people have recovered.

Due to the reports on the staggering high death, Iranian authorities have blamed some people for shutting their eyes on health protective measures.

Many public places such as cafes and gyms have been close; however, careless people keep traveling between cities and attending large gatherings. These violations has brought a spike in cases again despite the strict charges on disobediences.
