Special public transportation pattern for disabled

The CEO of Mashhad Taxi Management and Supervision Organization announced the provision of special public transportation services for people with disabilities in this metropolis.

‌Iran (IMNA) – "Last year, 51 sedan taxis in 133 network were adapted for disabled people. Now, equipping about 50 more vehicles is on the agenda by the end of this year," Ahmad Mohebi said.

Emphasizing that people with disabilities need to use public transportation, he added, "Adapting accessible public transportation for disabled people is one of the serious action plan of urban management board and the Islamic City Council of Mashhad."

"In order to facilitate and encourage disabled people to use public transportation, about 1,200 personalized tickets with a 50 percent discount for two trips a day have been provided to the provincial Welfare Organization," Mohebi continued.

"The other services of urban management board include supplying and delivering two van cars to Imam Khomeini Nursing Homes for Physical Disabilities, and providing free services to get into operation by other related centers," he noted.

Announcing the implementation of the fixed taxi fare plan in Mashhad, Mohebi said, "In order to decrease the challenges between passengers and taxi drivers, observing social justice, and also increasing citizens' usage and satisfaction with taxi services in urban travels and preventing the activity of unauthorized personal passenger vehicles, Taxi Management and Supervision Organization has put the fixed taxi fare plan in practice throughout the lines with definite origin-destination in agreement with the resolution approval by the Islamic City Council of Mashhad."

"Considering that the announced taxi fares are calculated based on taximeter, the QR -Code based Digital Wallet method is applied to facilitate the process of paying prices," he said.
