 School Mayor Project runs in Iran

The School Mayor project is a great opportunity to discern responsible students well informed about their rights and duties to the future leadership of Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - "The implementation process of the national School Mayor project will begin in urban and rural schools across the country under the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Municipalities and Rural Management Organization and the Union of Islamic students Associations," the vice chairman of Iran's Municipalities and Rural Management Organization said.

Emphasizing that one of the goals of this project is awaring young people with the election process, Masoud Nosrati said, "One of the great achievements of this project is to get this generation acquainted with the election process, since they will be well educated the right way to compete, appoint, and then friendship and empathy in this intimate atmosphere. Therefore, we will witness the reduction of depravement in this field."

The other objects of this memorandum of understanding are raising the required awareness of urban life for students on a school-based basis, organizing students' capacities to promote the skills of life quality improvement based on Islamic principles and values, and providing basic citizenship training to achieve social role-playing fields and empowering the students to actively participate in the Islamic community.

According to the significance of this memorandum of understanding, the implementation process of the School Mayor Project is as follows; the nominees of middle and high school students for taking the responsibilities of school council, the school mayor, and its deputies will be announced, then the mayor, the school council members and the deputy mayors will be selected by the students' votes, and finally the approval of selected people will be done by the experts and the liaisons of the project in municipalities and the union of Islamic students Associations.
